Governors

The Governors of Broadwindsor School work together with staff, parents/carers and outside agencies to ensure that all pupils receive the best education possible. The Board of Governors does this by establishing strategic direction for the school, ensuring accountability and financial probity.

Governors meet regularly to discuss, plan and evaluate matters related to the short and long term future of the school. This means that the Board look at curriculum provision, attainment and progress of pupils, arrangements for the safety & well-being of pupils, staffing, finance, building & maintenance.

This Governing Board currently follows a structure of Full Governing Body only meetings. There are no Committees. Prior to the middle of 2016/17, 2 committees would also meet – Finance and Curriculum. The Governing Body decided to trial a structure of Full Governing Body meetings only so that all Governors were fully aware of all aspects of the work of the GB. A year after this trial, the Governing Body decided to continue with this structure, reviewing it annually.

Governors like to attend as many school events as possible so that they may be available to parents/carers for feedback or queries.

An annual questionnaire is circulated to parents/carers in the summer term, to enable views to be gathered on important issues of school provision and care.

A periodic newsletter is also circulated, usually with a theme, to highlight the work or experiences of the Governing Body.

Governors can be contacted via the school office on 01308 868376 or by email office@broadwindsor.dorset.sch.uk. The Clerk to the Governing Body is Rachel Soper.
