Broadwindsor School is committed to ensuring our pupils achieve the best possible outcomes. Good school attendance is key to achieving this aim. We work hard to provide a safe and welcoming environment for your child and will monitor attendance closely.
Good school attendance improves your child’s chances of success in life. There is clear evidence of the link between good attendance at school and high levels of achievement. Children with no absence at Key Stage 4 are almost 2 times more likely to achieve 5 or more GCSEs than children who missed 10-15 percent of lessons. If your child has an attendance level of only 90%, they will have missed one day a fortnight in school. Over a school year this will represent four weeks of absence.

Help us with our Attendance Challenge – May 2022
Covid has obviously really affected the ability for our children to attend in the Autumn and Spring term and has contributed to our overall whole school attendance figures. However with the requirement now not to isolate and to treat Covid more like any other respiratory illness the school is required to re-focus on attendance.
We are asking for your support after the half-term holiday to try to have your child at school every day for the following 4 weeks. We will send to each parent their child’s current attendance and then compare at the end of the four weeks. Hopefully seeing it go up.
Obviously, we recognise your child might be unwell in those four weeks and can’t attend school. Please do talk to the school staff team for advice if you are unsure whether you should keep your child at home. Look out for regular emails about our attendance challenge via email or on the school website over the next four weeks.
Thank you for your support.
